TV GUIDE – Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) isn’t going to let Ivar (Alex Høgh) off that easily. In this exclusive sneak peek of Vikings’ midseason premiere, the shieldmaiden and her closest allies — Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), Torvi (Georgia Hirst) and Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) — confer about what to do now that Ivar is King of Kattegatt and out for blood.

As they quickly eliminate fleeing anywhere in Scandinavia given the likelihood that Ivar’s scouts would find and kill them in only a matter of weeks, things look grim for the former queen. “I refuse to accept that this is the end of my story, to be captured, humiliated and killed by Ivar. No. I am worth more than that,” Lagertha declares.

But without an army to fight Ivar, the group remains at an impasse. That is, until Heahmund offers up one solution: go to England. The warrior bishop says that he believes he could convince King Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) into sparing their lives in exchange for the promise to fight for him against other Vikings. Of course, what Heahmund doesn’t know is that his old pal Aethelwulf died and has been succeeded by his son Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo), who may or may not be as easy to manipulate into a deal.

Vikings returns Wednesday at 9/8c on History. Find out more of what to expect of the back half of Season 5 right here.
